Your parent’s results and records at UPMC

How to see your parent’s MyUPMC account with your own login, how to get copies from the records office, and how to keep the results in one place.

See your parent’s MyUPMC account

Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At UPMC: the patient invites you or asks at an office visit, or you send a request.

  1. 1You need your own MyUPMC account.
  2. 2Invite route: your parent logs in, selects Sharing Hub, chooses to share with a relative, friend or caregiver, picks ongoing access and sends an invitation.
  3. 3Request route: log in, select Request Proxy Access from the main menu, complete the form with any documents asked for, and submit.
  4. 4Your parent can also ask for proxy access during an office visit.
  5. 5Requests are normally granted within 1 to 3 business days.

  • It can charge only a reasonable fee, based on what the copy costs to make.
  • These rules also cover an electronic copy your parent asks, in writing, to have sent to you.

Vita Health Coach is an iPhone app that keeps each family member's results in their own file and explains each new result in plain words. Once you have access, add your parent, tap Connect a hospital and search for UPMC. Paper copies work too: take a photo of each page.
