Your parent’s results and records at University Hospitals

How to see your parent’s UH MyChart account with your own login, how to get copies from the records office, and how to keep the results in one place.

From University Hospitals’s own pages, checked on November 4, 2026. Steps can change, so follow the official links.

See your parent’s UH MyChart account

Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At University Hospitals: the patient sends the invitation from their own account.

  1. 1Your parent logs in to UH MyChart, selects Sharing Hub, then Family member, close friend or caretaker.
  2. 2Your parent selects Manage ongoing access to your MyChart account, then Invite friends and family, fills in all fields and picks the level of access.
  3. 3Your parent agrees to the terms and clicks Send Invite. You get an email invitation.
  4. 4You log in to your own UH MyChart account and accept the invitation. Both of you must have a UH MyChart account, so sign up first if needed.

  3. 3Former Lake Health facilities use a separate form, linked on the page.
  4. 4Your parent can also download or send records in UH MyChart, in the Document Center under My Record.

Your parent’s rights

  • Your parent has a legal right to copies of their own records.
  • When your parent asks, the hospital must answer within 30 days. It can take 30 more days once, if it explains why in writing.
  • It can charge only a reasonable fee, based on what the copy costs to make.
  • These rules also cover an electronic copy your parent asks, in writing, to have sent to you.
