Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At Sentara: the patient sends the invitation from their own account.

  1. 1Your parent signs in to Sentara MyChart, opens the Sharing Hub and sends a proxy invite to your email address.
  2. 2You must be at least 18 and have your own active Sentara MyChart account.
  3. 3You click the link in the email and answer a verification question. If you answer correctly, the proxy link to your parent's account is set up.
  4. 4Or fill in the Sentara MyChart Proxy Access form and return it to the physician's office.
  5. 5A court-appointed guardian attaches a copy of the court order to the proxy form.
