Your parent’s results and records at Scripps

How to see your parent’s MyScripps account with your own login, how to get copies from the records office, and how to keep the results in one place.

From Scripps Health’s own pages, checked on November 4, 2026. Steps can change, so follow the official links.

See your parent’s MyScripps account

Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At Scripps: the patient sends a Proxy Invite from their own account or signs a form at a Scripps facility.

  1. 1Your parent logs in to MyScripps and opens the Friends and Family Access page.
  2. 2Your parent sends you a Proxy Invite from that page. With an invite, no paper form is needed.
  3. 3You sign in with your own MyScripps account. Each person must have their own account.
  4. 4If your parent does not use MyScripps, they can set up Adult to Adult proxy access in person by filling out the Designation of Personal Representation form at any Scripps facility.
  5. 5Once access is set up, you switch to your parent's record with the name button in the upper right corner.

Get copies without the portal

From the Scripps Health Release of Information Center.

  1. 1Download the Request/Authorization for Health Information form, or use the online patient request form on the page.
  2. 2Your parent reviews both pages, fills in every item marked with an asterisk, signs it and names you to receive the records.
  3. 3Mail it to Scripps Health, Release of Information Center, PO Box 235498, Encinitas, CA 92023, fax it to 760-633-7747, or email it to scrippshealth@verisma.com.
  4. 4If you are your parent's representative, use the patient representative request and include guardianship papers, a Designation of Personal Representative form signed by your parent, or an advance directive that gives you authority to request records.
Family members:
A representative must include legal guardianship papers, a Designation of Personal Representative form signed by the patient, or an advance directive that gives the agent authority to request records.
Cost, as the hospital states it:
$5 for each patient request, plus page charges over set limits; no cost if sent to another health provider for continuing care
Time, as the hospital states it:
The legal maximum in California is 15 days, "although we strive to process requests sooner"

Your parent’s rights

  • Your parent has a legal right to copies of their own records.
  • When your parent asks, the hospital must answer within 30 days. It can take 30 more days once, if it explains why in writing.
  • It can charge only a reasonable fee, based on what the copy costs to make.
  • These rules also cover an electronic copy your parent asks, in writing, to have sent to you.

Vita Health Coach is an iPhone app that keeps each family member's results in their own file and explains each new result in plain words. Once you have access, add your parent, tap Connect a hospital and search for Scripps. Paper copies work too: take a photo of each page.
