Your parent’s results and records at OHSU

How to see your parent’s MyChart account with your own login, how to get copies from the records office, and how to keep the results in one place.

From OHSU Health’s own pages, checked on November 4, 2026. Steps can change, so follow the official links.

See your parent’s MyChart account

Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At OHSU: the patient signs an authorization form and gives it to their clinic.

  1. 1Your parent fills in and signs the Authorization to Use and Disclose Protected Health Information form for MyChart proxy access.
  2. 2Your parent gives the form to the front desk staff at their clinic.
  3. 3Access starts once the completed form is processed. You use your own MyChart account, and the two accounts are linked.
  4. 4If your parent cannot sign, contact their healthcare provider to ask how to request access as their healthcare representative.
  5. 5For MyChart help, call 503-494-5252, Monday to Friday, 7 am to 6 pm.

Your parent’s rights

  • Your parent has a legal right to copies of their own records.
  • When your parent asks, the hospital must answer within 30 days. It can take 30 more days once, if it explains why in writing.
  • It can charge only a reasonable fee, based on what the copy costs to make.
  • These rules also cover an electronic copy your parent asks, in writing, to have sent to you.
