Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At MedStar: you or the patient hand in a form in person.
- 1Print MedStar's myMedStar Patient Portal Access Authorization Form.
- 2For an adult, you or your parent must hand in the request in person.
- 3Your parent signs the form. You add your details and your email address; the portal invitation goes to that email.
- 4MedStar may ask for proof such as photo ID or power of attorney papers.
- 5Access lasts until it is ended in writing.

Keep the results in one place
Vita Health Coach is an iPhone app that keeps each family member's results in their own file and explains each new result in plain words. Once you have access, add your parent, tap Connect a hospital and search for MedStar. Paper copies work too: take a photo of each page.
