Your parent’s results and records at M Health
How to see your parent’s MyChart account with your own login, how to get copies from the records office, and how to keep the results in one place.
From M Health Fairview’s own pages, checked on November 4, 2026. Steps can change, so follow the official links.
See your parent’s MyChart account
Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At M Health: the patient sends the invitation from their own account.
- 1Your parent opens the MyChart menu, chooses Sharing Hub, then picks A family member, close friend, or caretaker.
- 2Your parent selects Manage ongoing access to your MyChart account, then + Invite someone, enters your name and email, checks the box and selects Send invite.
- 3You open the email, log in with your own MyChart account, enter your parent's date of birth and select Accept invitation. Proxies need their own MyChart account.
- 4If a provider has found your parent cannot make their own decisions, the primary health care agent fills in the MyChart Proxy Request Form. A court-appointed guardian sends the form with legal papers. Email them to honoringchoices@fairview.org and allow up to two weeks.
- 5Adult proxy access does not expire unless your parent ends it. Help: MyChart Support 855-513-5513 or MyChartHelp@fairview.org.

Your parent’s rights
- Your parent has a legal right to copies of their own records.
- When your parent asks, the hospital must answer within 30 days. It can take 30 more days once, if it explains why in writing.
- It can charge only a reasonable fee, based on what the copy costs to make.
- These rules also cover an electronic copy your parent asks, in writing, to have sent to you.
Keep the results in one place
Vita Health Coach is an iPhone app that keeps each family member's results in their own file and explains each new result in plain words. Once you have access, add your parent, tap Connect a hospital and search for M Health. Paper copies work too: take a photo of each page.
