See your parent’s Henry Ford MyChart account

Hospitals call this proxy access, or family access. You sign in with your own login and switch to your parent’s account, so you never need their password. At Henry Ford: the patient sends the invitation from their own account.

  1. 1Your parent logs in to Henry Ford MyChart on the website or app, clicks Menu and selects Sharing Hub.
  2. 2Your parent clicks Manage friend and family access, then Invite friends or family, fills in the form and clicks Send invite. A Henry Ford Health staff member can help.
  3. 3You get an email with a link. You log in to your own MyChart account and accept. You may need your parent's date of birth.
  4. 4If your parent is an incapacitated adult under your legal guardianship, you can request proxy access. Bring a copy of the court papers if they are not already in your parent's record.
  5. 5A medical durable power of attorney gives you authority to discuss your parent's medical information, not to access the record.
